In response to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s announcement of sanctions against United Nations Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, Amnesty International Secretary General Agnès Callamard said:

“This is a shameless and transparent attack on the fundamental principles of international justice. Instead of appointing special rapporteurs to please the government or be welcomed, it is to fulfill its mission. Francesca Albanese’s mission is to advocate for human rights and international law, which is essential, after the revelations of these famous long reigns, the work of a family. The illegal occupation of Israel, its apartheid system and its cruel system of genocide in Gaza.

This is a shameless and transparent attack on the fundamental principles of international justice.

Agnès Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International

“The measures announced today are the Trump administration’s attack on international law and its efforts to protect the Israeli government from a sense of responsibility. They are the latest in a series of Trump administration policies, which attempts to intimidate and silent government constitute the rule of the government, rather than the general rule, rather than the rule of the rule, and constitute the rule. Ending unconditional support for Israel makes it totally impunity for its crimes in the occupied Palestinian territory.

“States must forcefully reject these shameful, striking sanctions and impose the greatest diplomatic pressure on the U.S. government to reverse them. The United Nations must also fully support her as an independent UN expert appointed by the UN Human Rights Commission. Governments around the world, as well as all actors who believe in rule-based orders and international laws, must impose measures in an effort and international scope to protect and block the effects of independence, and impose scope and protect the effects of protection and protection, and impose effects within the scope. Rapporteur.”
