Great Britain claimed gold and silver at the Skeleton World Cup, with Marcus Wyatt beating teammate Matt Weston to the title in Latvia.
It is the second time two British men have occupied the top two spots in a World Cup race, after Weston beat Wyatt for gold on the same track two seasons ago.
The win was Wyatt’s second World Cup title and first since November 2022.
Great Britain have won 13 World Cup medals so far this season, equaling a record set in 2022-23.
Wyatt added a gold medal to the two silver medals he won last November in PyeongChang, South Korea, and the bronze he won last week in Altenberg, Germany.
The 33-year-old, who won the European title last season at the World Cup in Latvia after finishing second behind China’s Zheng Yin, finished two points ahead of Weston by a quarter of a second in 1:39.51.
Weston has won a medal in every World Cup event this season, following bronze medals in PyeongChang and silver medals in Beijing and Altenburg.
Team GB enters the Christmas break with the top two athletes in the world – with Wyatt leading Weston by seven points after former leader Christopher Grosser missed Friday’s match.
The next Skeleton World Cup will be held on January 3rd in Winterberg, Germany.
